Database Practicum Assistant
Assisted students in understanding relational database concepts and led hands-on activities.
February 2025 - Present
Role: Practicum Assistant
Project Overview
As a Practicum Assistant at the Informatics Laboratory of Telkom University, I helped students grasp complex relational database concepts including both MySQL and NoSQL technologies. I conducted regular lab sessions, answered technical questions during practical classes, and prepared comprehensive study materials. I also led hands-on activities for over 100 students, helping them develop practical database management skills through guided exercises and projects.

Key Features
Learning Materials
Comprehensive study guides covering MySQL, NoSQL databases, and database design principles.
Practical Exercises
Hands-on database activities designed to reinforce theoretical concepts through real applications.
Database Modeling
Entity-Relationship diagram tutorials and normalization techniques for efficient database design.
Query Optimization
Advanced SQL query techniques and performance optimization strategies for database efficiency.
Technical Implementation
This project was implemented using the following technologies and methodologies:
- MySQL: Used for relational database management to store and retrieve application data.
- NoSQL: Used for storing unstructured or semi-structured data with flexible schema design.
- Database Design: Used for creating efficient data models and relationships.
- SQL Queries: Used for retrieving and manipulating data from relational databases.
- Data Modeling: Used for designing database schemas and entity relationships.
Challenges & Solutions
Challenge: Explaining Complex Database Concepts
Making advanced database concepts accessible to students with varying levels of technical background proved challenging.
Solution:
I developed a progressive learning approach that introduced concepts through real-world examples and hands-on exercises. By creating interactive database scenarios that students could relate to, such as e-commerce platforms and social media databases, I helped them understand abstract concepts through practical applications. I also created visual aids for complex topics like normalization and query optimization.
Outcomes & Results
- Helped 100+ students master database concepts through practical training
- Developed comprehensive study materials covering both relational and NoSQL databases
- Received positive feedback for making complex concepts accessible and practical
- Created a foundation for students to apply database skills in real-world projects
